Barry Sheene: A Decade Later

Tributes to the Late Motorcycle Champion

10 Years After His Passing, Friends and Family Remember Barry Sheene

Barry Sheene, a two-time world road-racing motorcycle champion, left an indelible mark on the sport. A decade after his tragic passing, those who knew him best share their memories of the flamboyant rider whose personality often eclipsed his racing prowess. In July 1977, Sheene set a record that remains unbroken to this day, further cementing his legendary status.

During the height of British motor sport in the 1970s, Sheene, along with James Hunt (F1) and Roger Clark (rallying), dominated the scene. Sadly, Sheene's life was cut short at the age of 52 when he succumbed to cancer. Today, he would have celebrated his 65th birthday.
