Head Coach Emma Hayes Announces 18-Player Squad Plus Alternates

Chicago, June 26, 2024

US Women's National Team head coach Emma Hayes has unveiled the 18-player roster and four alternates who will represent the United States at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

The announcement comes as the team gears up for the quadrennial tournament, which will be held in Paris, France, from July 25 to August 11. The USWNT will begin their Olympic campaign on July 28 against the Netherlands.

Hayes has selected a blend of experienced veterans and rising stars for her Olympic roster. Among the notable inclusions are goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher, defender Becky Sauerbrunn, and midfielder Lindsey Horan, who were all key members of the team that won the 2019 World Cup.

Several younger players have also earned a spot on the roster, including defender Emily Fox and forward Mal Pugh. These players have impressed Hayes with their performances in recent international matches and will aim to make an impact on the Olympic stage.

The four alternates named to the squad are goalkeeper Casey Murphy, defender Naomi Girma, midfielder Ashley Sanchez, and forward Trinity Rodman. These players will provide valuable depth and cover for any injuries or suspensions during the tournament.
