Joker 2 Marks Movie Career Last For Joaquin Phoenix

Joker 2 Marks Movie Career Last for Joaquin Phoenix

Oscar-winning actor says ‘that’s probably it for me’ after ‘Joker’ sequel

After the upcoming Joker sequel, Joaquin Phoenix says he likely will retire from acting. “There are many different reasons why I might,” he told The Sunday Times. “One of them is that I’m getting older, and I don’t have the same energy that I did when I was younger. The combination of all those different factors makes it less likely that I’ll continue acting.”

Phoenix is 48 years old.
Despite his success in the industry, Phoenix has long been open about his struggles with mental health and addiction. In a 2019 interview with The New York Times, he said that he had been sober for 16 years.

Phoenix has been nominated for four Academy Awards, winning for his portrayal of the Joker in the 2019 film.

He is also known for his roles in “Gladiator,” “Walk the Line,” and “Her.”

Phoenix has three films slated for release in 2023.

In addition to “Joker 2,” he will star in “Beau Is Afraid” and “Napoleon.”

It is unclear if Phoenix will continue to act after these films are released, but his comments suggest that he is seriously considering retirement.
